Thank you Lee Chong Wei for showing everyone what’s really important behind playing a sport.
The more I think about it, the less I regret his defeat, because it made his silver medal actually in many ways more meaningful than a gold one would have been.

Senior Night
Today was our badminton Senior Night. We did all our traditional cute stuff of posters and gift bags and flowers, plus cards and personalized birdies, and Nancy made posters of each senior’s photos, and Erika’s mom made these HELLA NICE cupcakes, and, of course, we had dinner and senior speeches at Chili’s.
I had a lot of fun tonight, making faces and jokes and laughing and taking retarded pictures and eating myself full to the brim. It isn’t until now that it’s actually really starting to sink in… after dinner and the festivities have already ended… that the season really IS ending, our seniors really ARE leaving us so soon.
I’m going to miss so many of this year’s seniors so much, Jessica, Rachel, Sam, Howard, and EVERYONE … they made this season incredible, and it is very very very hard to imagine the team without them.
After listening to the seniors’ speeches, I’m determined to treasure every day of the next season, because I know it will pass by just as fast as this one did.
I guess I can say I’m looking forward to my own senior night next year, which I hope will be just as fun and happy and sad as this one.
